The meeting will include a financial report, a report on membership, a report on progress made on the hall, a summary of the year's activities and an election of directors for 2017-2018.
The selection and election of board members is important. The present board consists of President Dave Littlejohns, Treasurer Sara Callaway, Secretary Ron Phillips, Larry Hoffman, Tom Marchant, Ron Nigrini and Renee White. Some or all of the present board members will stand for re-election if nominated. We are also seeking and encouraging new candidates. If you'd be willing to run or know of someone who'd care to run, please sound them out about serving. Please contact Renee White at 729-5437 so we can add you to our list of candidates. We also welcome new members - it's $15 a year, for which you receive discounts on events and other perks. You can sign up at the AGM or call Renee White.
As some of you may not be able to attend the AGM, the following is a brief summary of last year's activities and accomplishments:
ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMMANDA COMMUNITY CENTRE FOR THE YEAR 2016-2017
The fall dance with Ron Nigrini & Western Radio was a real success and raised over $1400 for the centre.
The combined Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale attracted a big crowd, and many enjoyed the delicious lunch. The event was a wonderful social gathering and raised nearly $1400 for the hall. Many thanks to all of the people who contributed baked goods.
The spring pasta dinner and dance with The Silvertones was also very successful and raised over $1400.
Our major social events, the Children's Party and the Christmas Dinner were both well attended and greatly enjoyed by all.
The Music Jams (first Saturday night of each month) continue to grow in popularity with attendance sometimes exceeding 80 dancers, singers and players. Attendance is free, yet donations totalled over $1000 for the year.
Use of the hall by various other groups is ongoing. These include Yoga and Tai Chi. All help keep us in shape!
Thanks to Rose McClelland for maintaining our web site (www.commanda.ca
) and sending out these notices, which help keep the community better informed about what's going on at the hall.
We continue to maintain and improve the hall and a number of projects for the coming year are being discussed.
IT HAS BEEN A GOOD YEAR FOR THE HALL.
COME AND CELEBRATE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS 0F THIS PAST YEAR AND JOIN THE PEP RALLY FOR THE YEAR 2017-2018!
